TriState meetings have been initiated and supported by ASM branches in SA, WA and NT over many years. The primary purpose is to bring microbiologists together in an intimate environment conducive to information sharing and focused discussion in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
ASM TriState meetings are held once every three years in the Northern Territory. Speakers invited to TriState 2011 are recognised for their expertise and reputation in various fields of microbiology and TriState 2011 will focus on the microbiological interests of South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. However it is anticipated that TriState 2011 will be popular amongst all members of the Australian Society for Microbiology and members/non members are welcome to attend.
With an underlying theme of indigenous health, keynote speaker Dr. Ciara O’Sullivan will be presenting ‘An overview of chronic disease and management in the remote setting’.
Also presenting are Bart Currie - "Melioidosis on the rise; what's going on?", Vicki Krause – "Organisms/diseases of interest from the CDC perspective" & Lloyd Einsidel – “HTLV-1: Clinical aspects of a neglected infection among Indigenous people”.
Other areas of interest planned for the program include tropical medicine, STIs, microbiological case management and antimicrobials.
