ASM CHERYL POWER EARLY CAREER MICROBIOLOGY EDUCATOR AWARD
Awarded annually to recognise excellence in the teaching of, and/or innovation in the teaching of microbiology in Australia by early career educators.
The recipient receives a plaque given at the meeting’s award ceremony, $1000 prize money, full conference registration to the Annual Scientific Meeting and EduCon and up to 3 nights accommodation.
The recipient is expected to present at EduCon and/or the Annual Scientific Meeting.
+ Eligibility Requirements
Essential criteria:
Must be a member of the ASM of at least two (2) years standing at the time of application.
Should be teaching focussed or hold a teaching and research position with a significant undergraduate teaching component.
Should have been in their primary teaching role for less than 8 years.
Special Circumstances:
While the stated criteria guide the evaluation process, the committee may exercise discretion in considering additional relevant information provided by an applicant. Any such information must be included in the application materials and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
+ Application Requirements
Applications must include:
- a curriculum vitae (including a list of relevant publications and presentations)
- a one page summary of contribution to microbiology education since they started teaching, including their teaching philosophy and any innovation they have brought to their teaching role.
- the names and addresses (including email addresses) of two (2) referees
+ Conditions of Award
The recipient is required to present at EduCon and/or the Annual Scientific Meeting.
+ Award Review Committee
The award will be determined by the Executive Committee and a nominee of the Education Special Interest Group
