ASM COMMUNICATIONS AWARD
Awarded annually to recognise contributions in communications and engagement in the field of microbiology.
The recipient receives a certificate given at the meeting’s award ceremony, 1-year ASM membership and full conference registration to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting. The recipient will also be invited to contribute an article on a communications topic of their choice for publication in the Microbiology Australia journal and offered the opportunity to develop communications content for the ASM.
+ Eligibility Requirements
Essential criteria:
• Have been a member of the society in any category for at least two years. Applications are open to members of all career stages.
• Demonstrated active engagement in the science communication space and how this relates to ASM and/or the microbiology discipline.
Desirable criteria:
• Demonstrated active participation in ASM affairs at national or local branch level or in promoting the interests of the Society to the Australian or international community
Special Circumstances:
While the stated criteria guide the evaluation process, the committee may exercise discretion in considering additional relevant information provided by an applicant. Any such information must be included in the application materials and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Applications must include:
• a curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages, excluding publications)
• a one-page statement addressing the essential and desirable criteria above
• one example of your science communication work e.g. an article, video, blog, podcast etc. Please provide either as an attachment or working link.
+ Award Review Committee
The award will be determined by Vice-President of Communications and ASM members by invitation of the executive.
Closing Date for applications: March 31st.
