The 16th Congress of the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB) in Christchurch will take place on 22 – 25 November 2021.

ASM is one of six life science societies from New Zealand and Australia that are partnering to deliver a diverse programme – from molecules to organisms, big and small.

This is the first time New Zealand has hosted an FAOBMB conference since 1999. The congress will also be one of the first international meetings to take place after all of the postponements and cancellations associated with COVID-19.

Reflecting the breadth and depth of the partner societies, indicative session topics will include (but certainly not be limited to) biotechnology; protein structure and function; molecular microbiology; industrial microbiology; gene regulation and signal transduction, genetics and genomics; the molecular basis of disease (including plant pathology); and plant biology and biochemistry.

A Young Scientist Programme will also precede the Congress. This will give early-career researchers the chance to exchange ideas, seek career advice from senior mentors and enjoy a unique backcountry New Zealand experience.

Registrations and abstracts open early 2021.
